How to set up a simple water feature that sounds great with the right length and shape of a tube and a coat hanger. We bought ourselves a 60 cm high water feature made of concrete and set it up outdoors. The first thing we did was setting up the feature outdoors. It did not bring us much joy. The water would evaporate very quick and then the pump would run dry and it would also easily get dirty and attract algea. So we moved it to the alfresco next. No more direct sunlight hitting the feature. Great result. But the sound was too weak. So we bought a bigger pump. Bad choice, the water would flow too strong and we had to drill holes into the tubes to release the pressure and keep the water inside the little feature. And the bigger pump was louder than the small one, so oversizing is a bad choice and a waste of money. Back to the small pump. And this time around I got a new 10 mm hose and fed it through the concrete. I made sure that the hose would reach about 20 cm higher then the top basin and then I would feed a coat hanger inside the hose. Now I would switch on the pump and trim and bend the hose until I liked it. At the same time I did regulate the water flow with the dial at the pump and made sure there would be no spillage. A great result and a great sound with just a .- pump, a 10 mm hose, a coat hanger and a 60 cm high water feature. Tips and tricks Painting the concrete and putting a sealer on will enhance the beauty of the feature ! Now play your favorite music …
